The Safety and Empowerment for Experiential Learning: Professional Behavior and Appropriate Boundaries online training is designed for students participating in experiential learning opportunities, such as an internship, community-based learning, or off-campus work study.
This training focuses on self-advocacy, personal empowerment, workplace standards, professionalism, and bystander training.
The University of Wisconsin-Madison wants all students to enter their experiential learning opportunities equipped with the knowledge and tools to advocate for their own and others safety and wellbeing.

We recommend completing this training to prepare for an upcoming internship, community-based learning, or off-campus work study experience. All you need to do is self-enroll in the Canvas course.
If I already took this training for another class, do I need to take it again?
No, you do not need to take the training again, although you are more than welcome to!
Students only need to complete the training once during their time as a University of Wisconsin-Madison student. If you’ve already completed the training, please let your instructor know which semester it was completed in (i.e. Fall 2025) and they can verify that record.
How do I get credit for this training if I am required to complete it for a class?
To receive credit, you must fully complete the online training and pass the final quiz with a score of at least 80%.
